Sai Bhaji ( Bengal Gram cooked with Spinach) Sindhi Cuisine

Hi ,

Today I am going to share one of my mother tastiest recipe.
I like since my childhood normally kids do not prefer to eat spinach but who will deny if they are made in such great manner that not even the kids also the elders will relish.
Normally when I get bored after eating only veggies or daal chawal I prefer this dish Paalak Chana Daal with Rice the wholesome healthy and tasty meal so without waisting time lets get started .

Serving for 2

Ingredients

  • Chana Daal Soaked for 1 hours - 100 gm
  • Paalak ( Spinach ) finely chopped - 250 gm
  •  Onion medium size finely chopped-1
  • Ginger Garlic finely chopped -1 tsp
  •  Tomato chopped -1
  •  Green chili slit -2
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder- 1 tsp

  • Dry Mango Powder-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder-1/2tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder-1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1tbsp
  • Salt to taste

How to Make

Wash the Spinach in water thoroughly

1) Heat oil in a pressure cooker once the oil is hot put onion and stir for 1 minute
then add ginger garlic and saute for 2 minutes
2) Add tomatoes and green chili and saute for next 2 to 3 minutes and
3) Add all the spices and keep stiring for 5 minutes now sprinkle little water and mash it
4) Add soaked daal and spinach and add the remaining water and stir it
cover the lid and let it pressure cook. once the whistle blows simmer for next 15 minutes .
5)  After  15 minutes switch off the gas and take the pressure cooker off the gas and let the air release      naturally
6) Once its done open the lid and check if the daal has been softened or not if not then again close          the lid and let it cook for 2 more whistle and then check and if the daal is done then mash the daal      along with the spinach with the help of you ladle only .
7)Consistency depends on you whether you want to make it little watery or thick choice is all your if      you like little watery like normal daal then let the water be there and if you want thick you can            keep it back on the gas and let the water evoperate ..

Your Sindhi Sai bhaji  is ready you can eat it with both Rice and Chapati..
