Atta Chilla ( Pancake made of wheat flour ) Sindhi Cuisine

When we usually talk about the Pancake the taste which comes into our mouth is sweet and soft but this recipe which I will share with you is not a sweet pancake . This is made of Wheat flour with the batter type consistency along with veggies and the size is of chapati .
This dish I learnt from my mother. I have a very naughty memories with this dish.. My father used to come late at night after his working hours around 11 pm at night so whenever we were awake although most of the time we were asleep but if in case we were awake by any chance me and my sisters  used to whisper in his ear that we want to eat chilla because my mother used to get very angry that at middle of the night we want to eat rather than going to sleep but it was very generous of my father to ask our mother to make the chillas for us specially the atte ka chilla and if in case our mother used to deny our father used to make it for us and the most tasty chillas I have ever eaten was by father .. I dont know about the other dishes because he used to enter the kitchen only to make  tea for himself and on his daughters request he used to make chillas for them. He used to make it better then my mother.
lets get started :-

.
Ingredients :-
  • Wheat Flour - 1/2 Cup
  • Onion - 1 Nos ( Finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 1/2 ( Finely Chopped)
  • Green Chili- 1 Small ( Chopped)
  • Coriander Leaves - Finely Chopped ( Handful)
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Red chili - Powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • You can make approx 2 to 3 chillas out of this .
Procedure:-
  • Take the flour in a pan add water and make a batter type consistency .
  • Add all the chopped veggies , red chili powder , salt  and mix it well.
  • Switch on the gas and keep  non stick tawa over it .
  • Once the tawa is hot spread little oil and pour the batter on it spreading it evenly and try to make it as thin as possible only then the crispness will come other wise if in case the batter is not spread properly or it is thick it will look that the chilla is cooked from upside but it remains raw inside.
  • toast it on the low flame and once it is done from onside spread little oil with the help of spoon and or just sprinkle the oil with your fingers and turn it on the other side and let it cook slowly.
  • It may take sometime but trust me once it is done and after eating you will not regret for waiting.
  • this dish is healthy and filling breakfast.
  • If you want you can add more veggies to it. Like mushroom ,capsicum, beans ,carrot etc.
  • Your Chilla is ready to be served.
Note : Tastes good with curd or just a cup of hot tea.

This is my winter breakfast in weekends and I love to relish it with a cup of hot ginger tea.Hope you will like it as well !

Happy cooking !
